(248) 624-7400Choosing your stair system can be complicated but the L.J. Smith has come up with a four-step system to choose the right stair system for your home.
Step 1 – Choose between a post to post or over the post style. A post to post system is where the hand rail runs between the newels. On over the post system the handrail runs over the top.
Step 2 – The second step has to do with style also. You’ll need to decide between an open tread stairway or kneewall stairway.
Step 3 – The third step requires you to choose a baluster style. Square top or pin top styles are the most popular styles.
Step 4 – The last step includes a handrail style that goes with the corresponding baluster selected. After those components are chosen the newel posts are selected last.
